After I turn off the lights, I grab my keys from the small bowl by the door. I check my phone to see the time, because I always do that before I step outside. Then I put on my jacket, even if it doesn’t look that cold. I lock the door, pull it once to make sure, and go down the stairs.
Outside, the street is already busy. I walk to the corner and wait for the light. While I wait, I usually adjust my backpack and take my headphones out, but I don’t play music yet. I like hearing the traffic and the people around me in the morning. When the light changes, I cross and head toward the café.
I stop there almost every day. I order the same coffee, say hello to the woman behind the counter, and pay without looking at the screen because I know the price. I take the cup, thank her, and step back outside. I walk for a few minutes, sipping the coffee carefully so I don’t burn my tongue.
After that, I go straight to the bus stop. I stand near the sign, check the route number, and wait. Sometimes the bus is already there, sometimes I have to wait a bit. When it arrives, I get on, tap my card, find a seat, and look out the window as the day properly starts.
